If you rub bronze with oil, does it really look like oil-rubbed bronze?
Oil rubbed bronze is a finish applied to heated bronze - the carbon of the oil influences the color of what is basically a patina. The plated finish of oil rubbed bronze hardware has the tone right but is far more even than real treated bronze.
